Bishop Robert Barron- Preview of Word on Fire: Catholicism Series
Mission
As an open and inclusive group, the Holy Family Bible Discussion group aims to create stimulating and passionate discussion about our faith as Catholics. While we have a specific topic we discuss each week, we still encourage free-range discussions, allowing anyone to confront topics they are interested in even if it does not follow the material. We are excited you are interested in our group and look forward to welcoming you to the best Bible Discussion in Portland!
What Our Bible Discussion Looks Like
When?
Our discussions are held every Friday at 9:00am during the school year (September-June).
Where?
The big meeting room in the Parish Center
3732 SE Knapp St.
Portland, OR 97202
What?
We discuss lessons from purchased current educational materials, usually commentaries on books of the Bible, videos or books on various facets of the Catholic faith, or other subjects of a religious nature that interest our group. Below is a preview to a "Word on Fire" series that was watched in past discussions. Most often the cost is $15 or less for materials for a 2 to 3 month long subject, for example "Exodus", which we started discussing in Sept 2018. At each discussion, we have coffee or tea available, and one person or couple brings a snack (cookies, danish, etc) to each meeting for all to share.
Who?
Any parishioner is invited to join our study group. We encourage everyone to bring friends -- the more people show up, the more interesting our conversations are!
Why?
There is no roll taken, tests or exams given, grades issued, or verbal participation required (but it is encouraged). We are just a fun and lively group of people who want to learn more about our faith and background as Catholics.
